Notes

Original Planting Method: Direct sow
Outdoor / Direct Sow / Transplant Window: Mar 15 โ€“ May 1; Aug 10 โ€“ Sep 1
Days to Harvest / Bloom: About 40โ€“50 days
Container Friendly: Yes, 6+ in deep
Pollinator Friendly: Low; mainly wind-pollinated when flowering
Medicinal / Herbal Use: Culinary leafy green
Perennial?: No; annual
Succession / Reusable Notes: Sow every 10โ€“14 days in cool weather; harvest outer leaves repeatedly.
Zone 6B Notes: Good spring/fall spinach for Zone 6B; heat is still the main limit.
Companion Plants: Peas, radishes, lettuce, brassicas, onions
Avoid Planting Near / Watch Outs: More bolt-resistant than some spinach, but high heat still causes bolting. Give mature plants room because leaves get large.

[[RESEARCH ENRICHMENT START]]
Zone 6B: Giant Noble is a cool-season spinach. Direct sow in early spring and again in late summer for fall harvest. It is slower to bolt than many spinach varieties but still performs best below sustained summer heat.
Germination: Direct sowing is preferred. Seed germinates in approximately 7-21 days depending on soil temperature.
Harvest: Harvest large outer leaves while leaving smaller central leaves to continue growing. Giant Noble produces exceptionally large, thick, smooth dark-green leaves.
Seed Saving: Spinach is wind-pollinated and varieties cross readily. Save seed from multiple healthy plants for genetic diversity and isolate from other flowering spinach varieties.
Special Care: Also sold as Giant Nobel by some seed companies. Plants can reach approximately 20 inches tall and spread up to about 25 inches.
