[[RESEARCH ENRICHMENT START]]
Zone 6B: Direct sow after frost once soil is warm. Succession sow every 3 weeks, with the final sowing early enough to mature before frost.
Germination: Do not soak beans solely to hasten germination; overly wet or cold soil can cause seed rot.
Harvest: Pick pods frequently while tender and before seeds swell for best snap-bean quality.
Seed Saving: Allow pods to mature and dry completely on the plant. Phaseolus vulgaris is mainly self-pollinating, but some crossing can occur.
Special Care: Bush habit does not require a trellis.
