[[RESEARCH ENRICHMENT START]]
Zone 6B: Direct sow after the May 5 last frost. Additional sowings through mid-July can extend flowering into fall.
Germination: Sunflowers germinate best in warm soil and generally emerge within about 1-2 weeks.
Harvest: For cutting, harvest when petals are beginning to lift from the flower disk.
Seed Saving: Annual sunflowers cross readily through insect pollination. Isolate from other Helianthus annuus varieties if preserving true seed.
Special Care: A reliable commercial cultivar named exactly 'Moonwalk' could not be verified. A documented cultivar named 'Moonwalker' exists, but its variety-specific traits were not substituted because the supplied seed name is different.
